Natixis IM launches global client development division - client development division
Fabrice Chemouny will lead the new division as its first chief client officer starting January 2027.

Natixis Investment Managers (Natixis IM) has created a global client development division, consolidating its client service teams under a new leadership structure. The move comes as the firm prepares to launch the unit in January 2027, with Fabrice Chemouny appointed as its first chief client officer. The timing aligns with the firm’s broader schedule for rolling out its 2030 strategic initiatives.

Chemouny, who joined Natixis in 2003, will oversee three core functions: client markets, organized across six regions including Australia, partnerships, and product range and solutions. The client markets function will coordinate activities across those six designated regions, ensuring that local market insights feed into product development. His role marks a shift toward centralizing client-facing operations, with the goal of improving access to regional expertise and streamlining service delivery.

The division’s creation aligns with broader efforts to simplify distribution models and accelerate growth under Natixis IM’s 2030 strategic plan. The new structure will support expanded distribution partnerships with banks, insurers, and other distributors worldwide, while also developing tailored solutions for retirement, savings, and wealth management. Banks and insurers that join the network will gain access to the firm’s suite of equity, fixed-income and alternative offerings.

Chemouny’s appointment reflects a focus on Australia as a priority market within the Asia-Pacific region. Earlier this year, he highlighted the country’s role in sustainable investment, noting its strategic importance in Natixis IM’s Vision 2030 framework. The firm has already invested over $700 million in Australia and New Zealand through its Sydney-based private assets team, which manages sustainable infrastructure projects.

Under the new division, Chemouny will report directly to Philippe Setbon, Natixis IM’s CEO. Setbon emphasized that the reorganization places clients at the center of the firm’s operations, reinforcing its commitment to organic growth through client-centric models. He noted that aligning the organization around client needs would also improve speed of decision-making across the global platform.

Chemouny’s transition from his current role as head of international distribution, based in Hong Kong and Paris, will take effect on January 1, 2027. The move consolidates existing client service teams into a unified global structure, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and regional collaboration. During the handover, the head of international distribution will continue to support existing relationships while the new structure takes shape.
