Sunil Jhamb, founder of Dutch payment orchestration provider Celeris, has announced his departure as CEO of the company. He made the announcement on LinkedIn, stating that it’s one of those days that’s harder to put into words than he expected.

After founding Celeris in 2020 and leading it every single day, Jhamb is stepping down as CEO. The company provides a Payments Platform-as-a-Service (PPaaS) to ISOs, PSPs, acquirers, financial institutions, and e-commerce merchants.

The company’s orchestration platform encompasses direct-to-merchant payment solutions, automated transaction routing and reconciliation, fraud prevention tools, white-label services, and more.

Jhamb’s decision to step away from Celeris comes just over a year after the paytech was acquired by Spanish payment processor PayRetailers. At the time of the takeover, PayRetailers said it would leverage Celeris‘ orchestration gateway to support its international expansion, particularly in Latin America.

Jhamb reflects on the demands of entrepreneurship, observing that building a company is often described as a marathon, but for founders, it’s much more than that. He notes that it’s years of working long days and weekends, making difficult decisions, living in constant uncertainty, and countless personal sacrifices.

Though the biggest sacrifices are often made by the family, who quietly support them every step of the way, Jhamb acknowledges the importance of family support in his journey as an entrepreneur. He also founded Newgen Payments before departing in 2024.

Regarding his decision to leave, Jhamb shares that he’s choosing to slow down and spend time with his family that they have so generously sacrificed for his dream. He concludes that while he’s stepping away from the CEO role, he leaves with immense pride, deep gratitude, and complete confidence in the future of Celeris.
